Futile care policies do not generally require that the treatment be objectively futile, but allow doctors to use subjective criteria such as quality of life judgments and even economic factors as grounds for denying treatment. Until a few weeks ago Andrea was responsive and alert. She as been very heavily sedated by the doctors so that she seems "lifeless" now. She is not being unnaturally kept alive, she is being actively euthanized against her wishes, which she has made clear. Again, who has the right to determine who is "alive" and who isn't.
