Mike,
Have you seen the picture of the unborn baby getting an operation and reaching out and grabing the surgeons finger? That picture was really cool! Apparently it changed the photographers life.

I did a search and I found the 3D video of the baby in the womb. Watch the GE 3D-4D New Ultrasound Commercial. The commercial has Roberta Flack singing "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face". I have a slow computer so the only link I could get to work is the fourth link listed....

GE commercial in windows media player format fast http://www.gemedicalsystems.com/rad/us/video/4d-100k.asx

GE commercial in windows media player format slow http://www.gemedicalsystems.com/rad/us/video/4d-28k.asx

GE commercial in Real player format slow http://www.gemedicalsystems.com/rad/us/video/4d-28k.rm

Also, see a picture of 7 wk unborn baby:
munchkin

---------

I also have 3 follow up questions on the new 3D-4D New Ultrasound...

How big of a dent will this new technology make on the number of abortions?

Will it increase pro-life sentiment?

Will this translate into votes for pro-life politicians?

<i> When I mentioned this to my sister, she said just go online and print up an ultrasound and imagine it’s your baby. It’s all so grainy anyway - no one will know the difference! </i>

LOL, that is kinda true!

There is a lot of controversy surrounding routine u/s, but when the doctor says "time for an u/s" I get to excited to ask "is this necessary?"

I didn't have an ultrasound with my pregnancy because everything was going well. But when my girlfriend sent two pictures of her little girl (in one of them she was sucking her thumb), I sort of missed not seeing my baby. When I mentioned this to my sister, she said just go online and print up an ultrasound and imagine it's your baby. It's all so grainy anyway - no one will know the difference!

I didn't do that, but you get the point.

Congrats on your girl! My sister had a girl after 3 boys!

Yesterday we had our 18-week u/s. It was only a regular u/s, so not nearly as clear. We had a ton of level II u/s when I was pregnant with Dominic because of the gestational diabetes, and they were really neat because you could see the baby's features so clearly.

Yesterday, they gave us like 10 of those pictures of the scan that while they are hard to make out, people feel the need to keep because of the sentimental value. None of the ones I have are very clear, although the scan itself was. (I think I will take them to my mother and say "Look, look at the baby!" and while she is standing there holding the picture upside-right and upside-down trying to figure it out, I will say "doesn't the baby look just like Dad? See, and it has Josh's nose!" I get a kick out of doing that because my mother tries to be polite and say "um, I guess so...")

Anyway I was in for a surprise because it looks like a girl! I didn't even dare imagine I would have another girl after four boys in a row. I am so excited. Of course it is not totally sure, but still, I never even considered the idea!

I think about the fact that I didn't want to be pregnant this time around. Had I subscribed to a different set of values (contraception, abortion), this baby would not be here and I never would have been blessed with another baby girl after 14 years!

Now after we have just about run out of boys names, I have accumulated so many girl names over the years, it will be so hard to decide.

Lucy,

On another thread you had stated you support education on birth control/contraception in our public schools but would not support Chastity Education. I thought this statement of yours was very unusual and I just wanted to show you these attached links regarding the subject?

Kenya First Lady: Condom "is causing the spread of AIDS in this country."

http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/may/06052307.html

Can contraception cause early abortions?

http://all.org/article.php?id=10217&PHPSESSID=d6c4aac5ba558445f33333c239f77391

Why would you endorse education which promotes chemical abortions, promiscuity, AIDS, other sexually transmitted diseases, cohabitation without marriage, the break up of families and so on which Chastity Education has a track record of none of these? I am just curious about your opinion.

Several groups of women are at significantly higher risk for post-abortion problems. They should be particularly aware of the greater potential for complications.

--------

Women under 20 experience a 2 times greater risk of medical complications than for women aged 25-29. Canadian Journal of Public Health 1982; 73:396-400

1 in 24 (4.1%) have experienced immediate medical complications. (These have included severe bleeding, infection, perforation of the uterus, and part of the baby being retained.) Canadian Journal of Public Health 1982; 73:396-400

150% greater risk of cervical injury than for women over 30 years of age. New England Journal of Medicine 1983; 309:621-4

Women who've had a previous abortion 200% increased risk of miscarriage after two or more abortions. Journal of the American Medical Association 1980; 243:2495-9

160% increased risk of tubal pregnancy. American Journal of Public Health 1982; 72:253-6

Increased risk of abnormal positioning of the baby in future pregnancies. American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1983; 146:136-40

Women with previous or existing pelvic infections (PID) experience a decrease in fertility following an abortion. Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia 1979; 58:539-42

More days of post-abortion pain. Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia 1982; 61:357-60

Increased risk of tubal pregnancy following an abortion. American Journal of Public Health 1982; 72:253-6

This brochure is not long enough to list the more than 750 references in medical literature, each of which indicate serious complications to legalized abortion. For a complete listing, please send $18.00 to The Rutherford Institute, P.O. Box 7482, Charlottesville, VA 22906-7482, 1-804-978-3888, and request "Major Articles and Books Concerning the Detrimental Effects of Abortion."

Lucy said...

"Women know the risks they take when they seek an abortion. If you feel that there isn’t enough emphasis put on the risks then please, make people more aware, but only about the real ones."

Lucy I am going to list for you the risks of abortion. After you read the risks I would like you to list me 3 surgical procedures which are LEGALIZED in the United States which have comparable risks for women.

------

Risks...

Emotional and physical disturbances

Experienced by 1 in 2 (50%). These disturbances may last for months (may include depression, insomnia, nervousness, guilt, and regret). McGovern, Celeste, "Hag-Ridden by Post-Abortion Guilt," British Columbia Report, 10/18/93; British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1980; 87:1115-22

Complications in future pregnancies

Experienced by 1 in 4 (24.3%). May include excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical damage, and sterility. Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia 1979; 58:491-4

Pelvic inflammatory disease:

(PID) A first-trimester abortion can result in bacterial vaginosis, leading to PID--a condition that must be treated. American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1992; 166:100-103

Uterine perforations:

It can well occur that uterine perforations go unrecognized and untreated. Bernadell Technical Bulletin 1989; 1:1:1-2

Breast cancer:

140% increased risk following a abortion. British Journal of Cancer 1981; 43:72-6

Tubal pregnancy:

Legal abortion appears to contribute to an increase in ectopic pregnancy in younger women when associated with pelvic inflammatory disease. American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1989; 160:642-6

30% increased risk after one abortion. 160% increased risk after two or more abortions. American Journal of Public Health 1982; 72:253-6

Placenta previa:

A condition producing extremely severe, life-threatening bleeding in future pregnancies. 600% increased risk following an abortion. American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1981; 141:769-72

Decreased maternal bonding:

The loss of a baby through abortion may cause a mother to be less affectionate toward future children and may contribute to child abuse. Canadian Journal of Psychiatry 1979; 24:610-20

Increased bleeding during subsequent pregnancies.
American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1983; 146:136-40

Retention of placenta:

Increase during subsequent pregnancies. Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia 1979; 58:485-90

Breast cancer

Recent studies have pointed out that there is what some might term a "dramatic relationship" between the rate of abortion and the rising incidence of breast cancer among women who have aborted. In fact, as the rate of abortion rises in America, so does the rate of breast cancer, with the most increased rate being among those women who have had abortions. Somerville, Scott, Esq., Before You Choose, AIM publications, 10/1/93; Willke, J.C., M.D., The Deadly After-Effect of Abortion: Breast Cancer, Hayes Publishing, 1993

Post-abortion grief

This has been identified in numerous studies as a serious complication of induced abortion. Human Medicine 1991; 7:3:203-9

Acute grief reaction

Experienced by 3 in 4 (77%) if abortion is for genetic reasons. British Medical Journal 1985; 290:907-9

“Women know the risks they take when they seek an abortion. If you feel that there isn’t enough emphasis put on the risks then please, make people more aware, but only about the real ones.”

Lucy I am going to list for you the risks of abortion. After you read the risks I would like you to list me 3 surgical procedures which are LEGALIZED in the United States which have comparable risks for women.

——

Risks…

Emotional and physical disturbances

Experienced by 1 in 2 (50%). These disturbances may last for months (may include depression, insomnia, nervousness, guilt, and regret). McGovern, Celeste, “Hag-Ridden by Post-Abortion Guilt,” British Columbia Report, 10/18/93; British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology 1980; 87:1115-22

Complications in future pregnancies

Experienced by 1 in 4 (24.3%). May include excessive bleeding, premature delivery, cervical damage, and sterility. Acta/Obstetrics and Gynecology Scandinavia 1979; 58:491-4

Pelvic inflammatory disease:

(PID) A first-trimester abortion can result in bacterial vaginosis, leading to PID–a condition that must be treated.

Did anyone see this article today by Jill Stanek?

"Why Jesus Christ Would Not Vote for Barach Obama"

In February 2004, U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls.
Michelle called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure," and wouldn't supporters please pay $150 to attend a luncheon for her husband, who would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it?

But that's not why Obama's opponent Alan Keyes said Jesus Christ wouldn't vote for him.

Obama recalled Keyes' statement in a recent USA Today opinion piece but omitted his reasoning.

I know his reasoning, because I was there....

That doesn't look like a woman's body to me. Isn't abortion supposed to be about control over a womans body? I would swear that glob of cells looks just like a baby.
