Women who Regret their Abortions to Speak on NYC Streets
NEW YORK, Oct. 3 /Christian Newswire/ — After 33 years of America’s abortion debate, the voices of women who have experienced abortion’s devastating effects are being heard more loudly and in greater numbers. On Wednesday, October 4 at 12:30 PM, some of these voices will be heard on the streets of New York City, as participants in the Silent No More Awareness Campaign conduct one of numerous similar events taking place this month across the country.
The women will stand on 6th Avenue between 49th and 50th Street, holding signs that say “I Regret My Abortion” and speaking about their abortion experience.
The Campaign, a joint project of NOEL (The National Organization of Episcopalians for Life) and Priests for Life, seeks to raise awareness about the harm abortion does to women and their families, and about the many healing programs available. Actress, model and author, Jennifer O’Neill, who had an abortion, is the national celebrity spokesperson for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign.
According to Georgette Forney, who had an abortion at age 16, and is now National Director of NOEL, and co-founder of the Campaign, “Hearing woman after woman speak about the problems created by abortion really puts this issue in perspective. Despite the sadness of each woman’s story we are also able to share the help we’ve found to deal with the pain, which gives those still hurting hope.”
“We want to help women who are hurting from abortion find peace and healing. This campaign will let them know they’re not alone,” says Janet Morana, Associate Director of Priests for Life and Co-Founder of the Campaign.

The Midtown Manhattan location where these post-abortive women will be speaking is just blocks away from the headquarters of ABC, CBS, and NBC.
Still, I’m not holding my breath that any of the Big Three nightly news anchors — could you imagine Katie Couric covering this story? — will pay any attention to these women’s public testimonies about their horrific abortion experiences.

I am so glad to see this blog entry! Let’s spread the word now!
The ones who regret their decision and are telling others not to have abortions are brave and courageous and they need to be heard!

Dana, why is it that these women are brave and the others that say that they don’t regret their abortions are sluts?

They are brave and courageous because if you change your mind and become pro life after you have had an abortion it is because you realize that the “thing” you removed was actually a living human being. It takes a lot of guts to admit that you committed murder and are now sorry about it. It takes no guts at all to continue to justify the bad behavior.
If two of my children stole money from my purse to buy ice cream and one of them kept insisting that he didn’t steal it, he just borrorowed it but one of them admitted that he took it, it was wrong and he was sorry, which one would be braver?
