We're causing more problems in terms of the violence there now than if we got out. Iraq is a quagmire because we went in. Any intelligent individual that knew anything about Iraq saw this coming. As for the Democrats that gave it a rubber stamp, i have as much mercy for them as I do the rethuglicans.

And btw, the only reason we're still in Iraq is because we've created such a mess that now fundamentalist groups are going to use the US's debacle as the greatest recruiting tool for terrorists. Iraq did not equal alQaeda before the war. And while it's not the same group in there now, our presence worsens the threat of terrorism every day we are in there.

"Since when is Iraq a humanitarian issue?"

And World War 2? We didn't go over there to help the Jewish people, we didn't even know what was happening to them, but the holocaust is the first thing that comes to mind isn't it? Of course we didn't go into Iraq to help the poor Iraqi people being slaughtered but now that we are there and do know ,would it be a good idea to turn a blind eye? People would then complain that we left when we wre really needed Damned if we do, damned if we don't.....

#
Quinn says:

Hooray for the Constitution Party!

#
Rosie says:

“I voted Constitution party for the governor… ”

#
Pansy Moss says:

The only reason I don’t vote constitutional party is I feel it is throwing a vote away. Sometimes I feel a vote for a third party candidate, is taking away a vote from a candidate that might win that represents me a little more closely. Like I am not sure Bush totally represents my views, but he was a lot better than Kerry.

As for myself (since you are asking, or should I say accusing), I vote republican more often than not because as I believe all of us would agree, at this point in history, we are pretty much a one issue group. And republicans, for the most part, represent that issue favorably.

I abhor the war in Irag (though I am soooo grateful to our troops) and also question our reasons for being there. I too am confused as to why we stayed out of Rwanda and Darfur but went into Iraq. But the numbers are telling. 48 million to 100,00.
And Rosie didn't say that we haven't killed our share of Iraqis, she only said that Sadaam killed his own people. I am glad that good things have come out of the war, even if I suspect the motives for entering that war.

But you keep trying to say that being for one thing automatically puts us against another. This is simply not true. Being against abortion does not mean we are for war. Being against fetal stem cell research does not mean we are for parkinsons disease. Being against euthanasia does not mean we are for dying in pain. Being against abortion in all cases does not mean we are for rape. So please stop all the accusations before you even ask us what we believe.

OK my stupid comment is still undergoing "moderation" so im going to paste it without the links... hopefully commet #20 will appear sooner or later with the gruesome pictures I posted.

I’ve only heard rethuglicans endorsed on this site.

Rosie with all due respect do not even get me started….

Since when is Iraq a humanitarian issue? That is the biggest crock of shit I have ever heard in my life. No seriously, the biggest.

Take a look

"Genocide in Sudan pictures were here"

Oh and here’s one for you diamond owners from the Sierra Leone.

http://blessing.org/Sierra/sierraleone_boy1_big.jpg

Maybe the politicians will take the bullshit spewed on the right, but I will not. Iraq was never a humanitarian issue and if it was, we’d be in the Sudan, or Sierra Leone, or even North Korea WAY before Iraq. We were there so Bush’s fat cat friends from Halliburton could line their little pockets. And they’ve done quite, quite well. Meanwhile my friends are over their serving while you parade your crap about how we’re preventing mass graves and assorted atrocities. The right sets up a total straw man by saying the left obviously must not care about the Iraqis. Bull crap. I dont think caring about the Iraqis was dropping bombs on them and then having war profiteers come in and clean up the mess.

WMD ring a bell anyone? Oh but who cares! THe biggest mass murderer of Americans, what’s his name again? Oh yeah bin Laden!? Well isn’t that convenient. Oh well we’re winning in Afghanistan. Oh wait, what’s that? We’re not? Oh that’s right opium production in Afganistan is at an all time high and the drug lords are back fighting with the Taliban. The women are still oppressed and bin Laden and all his pansy friends are running around somewhere in the Middle East. Are we even looking for him anymore? Does it even bother you? I’m going to guess not.

Don’t ever run that humanitarian garbage past me again. You know that’s not why we went in there or at the very least why we were told we were going in there. You can’t rewrite history with me and you will not pull the wool over my eyes.

I had a little remembrance today as I was looking at pictures of domestic violence. I remember why I fell out with the catholic church and was so bitter as a young person. As my mother, my sister and I suffered brutal domestic violence not a single person or clergyperson stood up and helped us when things were really bad. They turned a blind eye to what was so patently obvious. They didnt want to get involved. Fucking hypocrites they were. And you know what as 100,000 iraqis have died as a result of our ridiculous invasion, I wonder how long you can stomach your own crap.

Lauren,
When did we ever give our views on the Iraq war?
Or are you just assuming?
It seems to me all we said was that Andrew Greeley dissents from Catholic teaching. Not always. But enough that using him as a reference won't get you very far. But I don't recall anyone giving their opinion (other than you) on the Iraq war any more than I remember them saying that they are republicans.

I know a fair amount about Catholic teaching to make a judgement. My judgement is that I like Andrew Greeley and there's a lot of other priests out there that feel the same way he does. I know, because I've met them. THose that support the war in Iraq disagree with John Paul do they not?

You don’t dislike andrew greeley because he offends catholicism, you dont like it because it offends you, and that’s the bottom line.

Lauren,
Before you make comments about Catholic teaching, you should know something about Catholic teaching.

Lauren,

Greely does not follow the Magisterium of the Catholic Church nor the Catholic Catechism.

Usually its easy to figure out -- If the mainstream media really likes a priest, odds are he's not a very good priest.

I guess I will address some of the issues touched on this thread. As far as Greely, no practicing Catholic takes the man seriously. I would advise you to listen more to our very good priests like Fr. John Corapi, Fr. Groeschel and Fr. Altier. These are the priests practicing Catholics look up to.

As far as President Bush. Fr. Peter West kept a daily log of what he has done for the Pro-Life Movement. Although I do not agree with everything Pres. Bush has done, I did vote for him for a single reason -- Supreme Court Appointments. I think he landed some great ones in Roberts and Alito. Time will tell.

I also voted for the Constitution Party for IL Gov - Randy Stufflebeam. He was the only possible Pro-Lifer running for the seat. My vote was to tell both parties they need reform.

Lauren,
Using Andrew Greeley as an example of a Catholic priest is like us telling you to check out something Father Frank Pavone says. We know you don't accept his outlook and we don't accept Andrew Greeleys. He is pretty much on the same page as the priest in the blasphemous mass video that you watched. Well maybe not that bad, but close...

Andrew Greeley is pretty well-known as heretical among Catholics.

Well, maybe that is harsh, but orthodox Catholics do not look to Andrew Greeley for advice is perhaps a better way to word it.
