Canadian University Bans Pro-life Club after Farcical Vote

KELOWNA, November 28, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A group of pro-life students at the Okanagan campus of the University of British Columbia, has lost a vote for recognition as a club.

The group’s leader, Marlon Bartram, told LifeSiteNews.com that only those opposed to the club were allowed to post flyers. The pro-abortion campus Women’s Centre, as an officially recognized body, distributed flyers urging students to attend the meeting and vote against club status for the group.

The Student’s Union had refused to ratify the club, even though the group had followed the normal application procedure deciding instead to defer the decision to a vote by the student body. Today, about 75 to 80 students, of a total campus student body of about 5000, attended the meeting and voted about two thirds against the ratification of the club.

Is the pro-choice side an “official club”?

I don’t understand…people who are pro-choice would not be affected in anyway by a pro-life club. Sometimes I think this is proof that abortion is seriously satanic. The other side just does not make sense. Logic goes out the window. What harm could possibly come from a group of pro-lifers forming a club. Only pro-lifers would join, or people who are on the fence. The only thing I can think of is that they are terrified the truth will come out and spread and the world will know their dirty little secret. I mean, isn’t it supposed to be all about “choice”? Where is the “choice” if only one voice is heard. Thank God truth does not rely on public opinion. They can take away our creches, our clubs, our freedom of speech (at the clinic), even our lives, but they cannot change the truth.

    Mary Kay,

As I said before these are the same people who preach tolerance to us and are the most intolerant people of all.
