PUMPED for Life!

— Posted by Eric (January 24, 2007 at 10:59 am)

These guys are pumped! As John and I reached the corner of 6th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue before the March for Life, this crowd of guys from Cathedral Prep High School in Queens, NY shouted out, “Pro-Life?” We shouted back “Pro-Life!” and they cheered like they’d just scored the winning touchdown in the state championship.

They were psyched to be there at the March for Life, and we were excited to see a group of pro-life guys on fire. So often it’s the girls who take the lead, so we encouraged these guys to put their zeal into action by starting a pro-life club at their school. I took their picture with John (click it for a bigger version) and told them to come to our site to see it and learn all they need to know to start up a club.

If any of the guys in that photo drop by here, leave a comment and keep in touch!

I was there! Those guys weren’t the only ones pumped up! It was hard to even pick out older people in the crowd, there were so many high school and college kids there. (Go see my pictures.)
I felt like a dinosaur at 44. My girls, ages 13, 8 and 4 loved the excitement and all the pro-life celebrities.More pictures at my blog:

I started going to the March for Life in 1978 when I was 16. Back then, a young person was a rarity, but no more! I did start a pro-life club right after the March in 1978, and nearly 30 years later, it’s still going at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, NY. We have to bring the March enthusiasm back home to our communties, and, next year, bring more friends to the March.

    Maureen,

Are you teens part of a pro-life club? If so (or even if not) send along a picture (send to annie@prolifeaction.org ) and we’d be more than happy to post it. Also, if they are not part of a club, how about starting one? I’m sure they are pretty pumped from the March.

Well, this is definitely a wonderful change after seeing mostly of women/girls in pro-life activities!! And these guys look so happy and charged.

Btw, when Eric wrote that the photo is of the guys WITH John, I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t recognize John among the guys…until I clicked to enlarge. I guess living by life-affirming principles and having a child-like really does have a way of keeping us youthful =)
