Record Attendance at Canada’s March for Life

Canadian March for Life

Many of us in the United States associate the March for Life with January 22, the date it’s held each year in Washington, DC.

Our neighbors to the north, however, have their own March for Life each May 10. This year’s March saw a crowd of 7,000 people — its largest crowd ever — and, much like the U. S. March for Life, the vast majority of participants were young people.

The growing popularity of the Canadian March for Life was illustrated in a LifeSite article on the event that cited the example of St. Michael’s College School, a Catholic high school in Toronto:

“The students were excited when we went home on the bus,” recalls [Paul] Tuns. “The mood was upbeat,” he said, “I feel reinvigorated.” Tuns’ son Patrick is the President of the pro-life club at St. Mike’s … the proud father notes that the numbers from the school in attendance at the March this year doubled from last year with a full busload of 46. “Next year they’re planning two buses.”
