Thank you for the insight John! That makes alot of sense, and I think for children of pro-life families, that is very true. I've found that, at our parish, some of the most pro-life people are the younger children. They can be so enthusiastic about defending life that it is just precious!

I guess my concern lies a bit more for those children whose parents may not explain to them what the pictures are. It may put a negative association in the child's mind with the pro-life movement/pro-life people.

God bless!

A couple other things...

Another place to buy Face the Truth signs is PIP Printing in Milwaukee, WI. Their contact information is <a href="http://prolifeaction.org/truth/signs.htm#buy" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Christina—

<a href="http://prolifeaction.org/truth/signs.htm#second" rel="nofollow">Baby Malachi</a> was aborted at 21 weeks — thus, fairly late in the second trimester.

RSD—

in the U.S., the percentage of abortions performed in the first trimester is, in fact, around 90%.

As a follow-up to my comment from yesterday, I just wanted to offer the following personal insight.

Last summer, my daughters (then ages 3 and 4) helped my wife hold one of our aborted baby signs on two occasions during our Chicagoland Face the Truth Tour.

Prior to having them join us, we explained to them that we hold these signs "to show people why it's bad to hurt babies." Those, in fact, are the exact words I used when I explained to them why we show these signs.

Like many kids their age, our girls are easily frightened. However, they weren't at all frightened by the sight of the aborted babies on our signs because they understood why we were showing them.

Since children are naturally pro-life, and since they don't want to see other children get hurt, once they understand that we are showing the signs to protect other children, they are likely to empathize with children who are victimized by abortion.

<strong>Don’t get me wrong, anything that saves a life is worthwhile, I just always wonder about others who are seeing those signs, especially young children.</strong>

Miss March—

Your concern is a valid one. It's one that we've given a great deal of thought to, and which we've addressed at length in the <a href="http://prolifeaction.org/truth/objections.htm" rel="nofollow">"Answering Common Objections" to Face the Truth</a> page on the Pro-Life Action League's site.

I intend to write more about this subject later (specifically, how my wife and I have explained the purpose of showing graphic abortion pictures to our own young children when they've participated in Face the Truth Tours with us), but I haven't the time right now. I'll try to do so in the near future.

God bless you for your efforts! This is something I don't have the courage to do myself, and, I'm actually not sure I completely agree with their use. Don't get me wrong, anything that saves a life is worthwhile, I just always wonder about others who are seeing those signs, especially young children.

"God certainly does not want us to present false evidence in our efforts to educate the public"
----------------------------------------------

Talulah...just to let you know...even if you show 2nd or 3rd trimester abortions graphics, it would STILL be honest and truthful.

You mentioned 90% of abortion are done on 1st trimester babies...well, think about these: where did you get that statistic? From the abortionists ? Who keeps tracks of what age the babies really are if the abortionists don't even do an ultrasound to verify the age? Are these abortionists ever truthful or honest in their dealings/ records with the women?

Abortion is abortion no matter what stage the baby is...most probably, that 90% is most likely NOT even accurate.

I, personally, don't like looking at these graphics...it tears my heart apart everytime I see one....BUT it has it's uses...it forces people to see the TRUTH (even if they don't accept it) ..I use it to strengthen my resolve to stop this barbaric practice towards the unborn.....I even held one up during one rally.

Good Luck and God be with you in your efforts!

Talulah,

Yes! I'd like to tell you about the signs that we use on these tours.

We use graphic signs mostly. These graphic signs depict both live babies and babies that have been aborted.

There are several different kinds of signs with aborted babies that we use. I believe that most of them depict earlier abortions, though I have not checked to see at just what age the babies where killed. We also have one sign that shows a first trimester abortion; it is the one that has an aborted baby's hand raised in the photo. You might know of it? Another sign that we use, known as Baby Malachi, is, I believe, a photo of an early abortion, though perhaps not first trimester.

Do not worry about using photos of babies aborted after the first trimester. Because not only are you trying to stop later abortions too, but you are trying to bring an end to legalized abortion, which permits all abortions, even those done after the first trimester. And if people challenge your decision to hold signs depicting abortions that do not happen very often, tell them that you are doing something about the few that are happening, and that you are fighting legal abortion which allows all abortions, no matter how late term. Also remind them of Dr. George Tiller's late-term abortion business in Wichita, Kansas.

But yes, do not use signs that show babies who have died from miscarriages. This would be a false message and would not help our cause.

A very good source from which to buy graphic signs of aborted babies is www.antiabortionsigns.com. They have a great selection of signs, and we bought all ours from them. Also, if you want different signs than this place sells, check out www.priestforlife.com/images. There are very many pictures here that you can use freely for your signs.

I hope that this helps, and God bless!

Could you let me know about your signage? My pro-life group has been making signs showing first trimester abortions, since 90% or more of abortions are performed during this time. Unfortunately, these photos just don't have much punch. It does seem untruthful to show later term or even full term miscarriage photos, and God certainly does not want us to present false evidence in our efforts to educate the public.
