“Let no one have contempt for your youth…”

— Posted by Molly (May 26, 2008 at 12:54 pm)

“Let no one have contempt for your youth, but set an example for those who believe, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12

Odds are you’ve heard these words before. Though the Apostle Paul was speaking to Timothy when he said this, I have always seen this bit of scripture as powerful and motivational words to encourage the youth of the pro-life movement.

Some people may be condescending and spiteful toward you simply because you are young and interested in the pro-life movement. Don’t be discouraged. Your efforts may do more good than you know. I just recently went to my first pro-life rally, and after it was over people kept coming up to us and telling us how inspired they were to see so many young people involved. Even simply educating yourself and others about pro-life issues does a whole lot of good. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

And, if they do, we’ll get to see those results when it comes time for the Final Judgment.

Good for you going to your first pro-life rally! (The first of many, I’m sure…)

In 1995, members of the Irish Pro-Life group, Youth Defence met the late Pope John Paul II.He gave great praise to their work and asked them “to continue in our apostolate and be courageous”

Every success with your continued efforts.Be always assured of prayers and support from even as far as here in Ireland. I’m sure the pro life rally/event was the first of many.

I think the thing that annoys me the most is when older adults tell young people, “You are the future!” Well, what does it look like we are doing now? By God’s grace, we are the present!

    Also, anyone from Glenview? http://www.pioneerlocal.com/glenview/news/982904,gv-webparade-052908-s1.article

    Nikolia,

Thanks for the Glenview article. My mom grew up there. My family and I had attended the 4th of July parade and fireworks for years until my grandma passed away. I sent the article on to my mom.

Molly-I am one who is even older than John : ) Please forgive your parents generation (like me). You are so very correct- you are the now, the present….which so many of us (i will speak collectively) dismiss. Your ideas are fresh, you can speak to the young people in a way that we cannot (we represent Mom&Dad).
And I know that I did not want to listen to my parents- my peers came first. I came back from a pro-life mtg. last year, where many in attendance were The Survivors, Rock for Life, etc. I was inspired and fired up by your creative, innovative ideas. People my age did not want to hear. “Do not grow weary by doing good….”
