- Watch the Pro-Life Action League’s “Face the Truth” video
- See our “Answering Common Objections to Face the Truth” page

I’ve always thought it wasn’t a particularly good idea to use graphic signs. Yes, it shows people the reality of the abortion, but what if there are some kids near that see it and it scares them? What if people don’t want to see those? It seems awfully unthoughtful… There are some people that are really sqeamish and get sick and the site of so much blood and gore…
And, oh dear, I’m antagonizing everyone again. And to think I came here to encourage fellow pro-lifers! Well, I promise I’ll agree with something you’re saying in my next comment.

Em,
That has been a concern about kids seeing the pictures.
Personally I have seen graphic video games that look vitual real to the human eye and many parents are letting their kids play those video games.
Second, do you really think there were no children around watching when Christ was crucified on the cross?.
Third, as a witness the only time I have seen kids get upset is when the parents get upset first. Usually kids just point and ask the parents “What happened to the baby?” which ends up to be a learning experience for both the parents and kids.
Fourth, these pictures save lives. I would rather save a life then worry about seeing one graphic picture.
Fifth, warning signs are always posted before entering into the graphic pictures zone. So the parents can make a “choice” whether to use another east/west or north/south street to go around the pictures.
Last, do you know the story of Emmitt Till and the use of graphic pictures?

Em—
Your concerns are valid ones that we’ve given a great deal of thought to, and which we’ve addressed at length in the “Answering Common Objections to Face the Truth” page linked to in this post. (Obviously, Mike’s given this issue some thought, too.)
Not surprisingly, the first question we address there is, “What if children see these graphic abortion pictures?”
Last summer, my daughters (then ages 3 and 4) helped my wife hold one of our aborted baby signs on two occasions during our 2007 Face the Truth Tour.
Prior to having them join us, we explained to them that we hold these signs “to show people why it’s bad to hurt babies.” Those, in fact, are the exact words I used when I explained to them why we show these signs.
Like many kids their age, our girls are easily frightened. However, they weren’t at all frightened by the sight of the aborted babies on our signs because they understood why we were showing them.
Since children are naturally pro-life, and since they don’t want to see other children get hurt, once they understand that we are showing the signs to protect other children, they are likely to empathize with children who are victimized by abortion.
