"I believe, in fact, that every one of us is affected in some way, however small, by abortion."

"parents, who give their children life and who are the most closely related to them and who suffer the most when they are aborted."

"Parents of children are in a catagory all by themselves"

All very true.

Mike and Em,

It's very true that many people are wounded by the death of one baby through abortion. I believe, in fact, that every one of us is affected in some way, however small, by abortion.
But in this post, I am talking only about parents, who give their children life and who are the most closely related to them and who suffer the most when they are aborted. Parents of children are in a catagory all by themselves when it comes to who else is related to their children. Both the mother and the father of a child are equally important to their child, have equal rights regarding their child, and were both necessary to give their child life. It would be inconsistent to put the mother in her own catagory alone, and lump the father into the same catagory as all the other relatives of the child. The mother and father are together in their catagory; the other relatives come second.

God bless.

Many have also made the argument that Abortion is the main reason for our Social Security crisis.

At one point I believe the ratio of the number of people paying into the social security pool to the number of benefactors was 50 to 1. The Social Security system works when we have a continually growing population. In the near future our ratio is supposed to be as low as 5 to 1 or 3 to 1. One of the main reasons is we are killing our unborn babies in the mothers womb.

Not only do surgical abortions hurt this ratio but chemical abortions also hurt this ratio. For some reason our government still gives large portions of our tax dollars to Planned Parenthood which kills our babies through both surgical and chemical abortions.

Therefore as you can see, abortion also hurts society as a whole.

You are very right that many fathers are also injured by abortion. Though I have to agree with Mike - "One dead, many wounded."

I like the thinking that two are wounded - both mother and father.

However I think it is more than two that are wounded. How about the grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, sisters, brothers and so on. How about the prospective adoptive parents and their families? Think of all the interactions you have with everyone throughout your lifetime. These are interactions that will never take place.

So isn't the number wounded actually an infinite number?

Wonderful observation, Christina. I seem to remember reading or hearing that the Father, aside from being the head of the family, is also its SPIRITUAL head. It's not the mothers job (although, in current culture, it is the reverse) to lead the family spiritually.

If only we, fathers, can take back that role and set an example for our sons...our future generation would have the spiritual backbone to stand up to the evils in society.
