I think one needs to be careful when criticizing priests. While there certainly have been priests in this election who have skewed some of the views of Catholic Church teaching, there are many priests who have stood up for life and they should be acknowledged and praised. Priests and Bishops such as Bishop Charles Chaput (who has spoken numerously, as recently as last week), Archbishops Joseph Naumann and Bishop Robert Finn of the 2 Kansas City Dioceses who released a letter to their faithful declaring the importance of stopping a politician who supports an intrinsic evil from taking office, Archbishop Timothy Dolan and his proclamation of the human rights issue being the new civil rights issue, and many many priests who have given talks and homilies across the nation declaring the faithful's duty to responsible voting.

Furthermore, it is important that one recognize it is not only the duty of the priest to speak politics, in fact, it is not their primary duty. It is their duty to speak on Church teaching, which certainly relates to politics, and they certainly can speak out as citizens, but their responsibility to to form the Church. It is the responsibility of the laity to evangelize the message of the Church to the world.

The work you are doing here is very good work. I am so happy to have found this website and will certainly add it to my list of sites to check.

It is true that our nation is divided and the results of this election could be sobering as it relates to human life, but our Church is also very divided, and this election is showing the results of the divide. We must do our part as faithful Catholics to support the Church and attempt to unify her people.

We are the JPII generation and we must, in the Faith he taught us, defend human life and the life of the Church.

If you are interested in more pro-life websites. Please visit my blog www.logosandveritas.blogspot.com. I am writing on life issues, particularly the stances of the candidates in this election and their records of voting, etc as it relates to human life issues.

Thank you again for your work and I join your pleas for the defense of life!

Molly,

Yep, you really have it right here.

It's true that the bias of the media is not only totally real, but it's also totally unfair to the American people. We read the news to find out what's going on in the world, not to know the opinions of a small group of people. Just really upsetting.

If the media would report fairly, I wonder how much the elections would differ.

God bless.

At least in my experience, there are a lot of people who vote who don't really know what they're voting for. They probably just hear that their friends and family are voting for him so they do so themselves. The media bias on most news stations doesn't help either.

We had a German exchange student over this month, and we got around to talking about politics, so he said that most Germans supported Barack Obama. We asked him why and he said that Obama was the only candidate covered in the news. Most of the Germans he knew didn't even know what John McCain looked like. Now of course they can't vote for the next president unless they were born in the United States, but it's just a demonstration of how biased the news has become.
