Bright Lights in a Dark Night

—Posted by Christina (November 5, 2008 at 7:34 pm)

Whew! Last night (election night) wasn’t easy. And I’ve found myself saying a certain prayer many times recently: God have mercy on America!

But despite the darkness, there’s lots of hope and lots of new energy for even more pro-life activism. John and Annie have some terrific recent posts on this; thank you both!

I was really upset and really SAD last night. I find it hard to accept that America could so happily elect Barack Obama President. The most liberal candidate ever to run for this postition. It looks like many Americans have thrown out their values in order to put into effect their concerns about the economy.

But what I wanted to talk about here was despite so much darkness surrrounding us with these elections, there are bright lights shining through! Bright lights of hope and renewed efforts for life. I have to say that right in the middle of the devastating news last night, I was freshly making up my mind to just work harder for the Culture of Life. I was thinking, “Okay, I’m now just going to do two things: pray harder, and work harder!” (more…)

Now What?

—Posted by John (November 5, 2008 at 2:44 pm)

We now have a president-elect who said he doesn’t know when human beings should be given human rights, who promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act—which would have a devastating effect on existing pro-life laws—and who voted to support legalized infanticide.

South Dakota’s effort to ban most abortions failed.

California’s effort to pass a commonsense parental notification law for minor girls seeking abortions failed.

Michigan voters approved a state constititutional amendment to permit stem cell research embryonic stem cell research (that is, killing little people because it might help bigger people).

And Washington state became the second state to legalized doctor-assisted suicide.

(Details on all these state ballot measures are available here.)

So, what do we do now? (more…)

Generation Hopeful

—Posted by Annie (November 5, 2008 at 7:54 am)

I was up early this morning and decided to get some work done while my girls are still sleeping.  I’m a bit behind with my e-mail.  But there is a reason for everything – even getting behind sometimes.

I’m sure John or someone else will write about the election, but since I’m up early, I get to put my two cents in first.  I don’t have much to say about it except that a certain e-mail struck me. (more…)

A Simple Message for Today

—Posted by John (November 4, 2008 at 9:06 am)

And even if you’re not yet old enough to vote, you can still pray.

Please also join me in fasting today for the intention of a pro-life victory at the polls.

I won’t tell you exactly how to fast — that’s not my place — but I can offer a few suggestions:

  • A fast from cooked foods (raw only)
  • A fast from one or two meals during the day
  • A bread and water fast
  • A total fast (no food at all, only water)

Whatever fast you choose to undertake, you’ll be joining hundreds of Americans who are taking on this sacrifice for the sake of our nation at this critical time.

Doctor-Assisted Suicide on My Ballot!

—Posted by Christina (October 31, 2008 at 9:51 pm)

My State of Washington is one of the more unfortunate states in this election. We’ve got this abominable Initiative on our ballots, called I-1000, and if passed, it would legalize doctor-assisted suicide in Washington!

Needless to say, all of us pro-life activists over here are in a rage over it, and are doing what we can to kill it. It is quite shameful though, since I think that Washington is only the second state to attempt to pass such an initiative. (more…)

This Video Won’t Last Long on YouTube…

—Posted by John (October 30, 2008 at 9:50 am)

Whenever a video of undercover footage exposing the truth about what really happens inside an abortion clinic is posted on YouTube, it’s usually yanked soon after for no reason.

So I’m sure this shocking video, just released by Students for Life of America, won’t last long either:

(If it’s no longer available on YouTube, you can also see it here on Eyeblast.) (more…)

Troubling Times

—Posted by Christina (October 22, 2008 at 9:11 am)

I think that we’re all now really concerned about this year’s presidential elections! Of course they haven’t happened yet, so we can still have lots of hope.

But what is frustrating me so much is the apparent easy acceptance of the American people for Barack Obama. He is the most liberal presidential candidate ever to run this race in U.S. history, but yet America seems to be fast falling for him, without much problem at all. What’s going on?!

I believe in America and in the goodness of the hearts of her people. So where have they all gone? Are they just desperate and blinded by the economy problems, healthcare, and the war? Or do they all just plain want Obama and his wicked ideas in the White House?

All very weird.

And do we all think that God will continue to bless America if we elect this man President? (more…)

Faithful Citizenship

—Posted by Molly (October 20, 2008 at 8:10 pm)

There has been a lot of talk about the upcoming election. As pro-lifers and Catholics, we know this election is vital to our movement. But do you know all the “non-negotiable” issues when it comes to Catholic voting? USCCB came out with a website: Faithful Citizenship, which teaches Catholics the fundamentals of Catholic voting. Even if you aren’t eligible to vote yet, you can still educate yourself on how to vote, the Catholic way. There’s even a specially designed “Youth” section. Take the quiz on faithful citizenship and read about all the important issues.

Abortion is a very important issue in this coming up election. If you can’t vote yet, you can help out by praying that your fellow Catholics who are eligible to vote will make the right decision for LIFE.

A Great Story on Pro-Life Politics!

—Posted by Christina (September 2, 2008 at 3:43 pm)

I am very interested in this year’s elections and how they are going to turn out, and I am trying to do as much as possible to help see to it that we elect pro-life politicians, especially the President.

So when I was at my local fair this summer, helping tend the pro-life booth there, I jumped at the opportunity to approach the people who were tending the Democrat booth, and ask them if they knew, and were comfortable with, the extreme pro-abortion views of Barack Obama. (more…)

McCain’s VP Pick

—Posted by Annie (August 30, 2008 at 6:57 am)

We in the pro-life movement are pretty excited about John McCain’s choice for a running mate – Sarah Palin.  She’s solidly pro-life and is loved by the people of Alaska whom she governs.  But that’s not all, folks.  She’s a pro-life witness to boot.

When Sarah was pregnant with her last child, Trig, she was told that he had Down Syndrome.  This sort of news alone can be difficult to embrace, but her doctors went on to encourage her to abort.  Sarah and her husband refused.  This is the quote we are seeing all over the media:

“We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed.”

God bless Sarah Palin and God bless America.  This continues to be an most interesting presidential race.

Two Teens Arrested

—Posted by Annie (August 29, 2008 at 1:17 pm)

On Wednesday, August 27, police officers brutally arrested two teenage girls, ages 15 and 17, near Senator Obama’s Denver hotel.   The young women, Julia Giacopuzzi and Jayne White, were writing messages in sidewalk chalk on the public sidewalk when the police officers rushed in and violently arrested the girls without warning or provocation.

The girls are members of the pro-life youth organization Survivors, and were in Denver during the Democratic National Convention to call attention to Senator Barack Obama’s pro-abortion position as part of A Prayer for Change. (more…)

A Worthy Bishop!

—Posted by Christina (August 26, 2008 at 4:48 pm)

Please take a moment to read this sweet article on the elections! Wow! Obama’s VP choice, Senator Joseph Biden, is not an exemplary Catholic, but his bishop is not only an awesome Catholic but also a worthy bishop! Sweet, sweet, sweet!

Obama may have chosen a Catholic VP in order to appeal to conservatives, but it’s all going to backfire on him because Senator Biden’s bishop is seeing to it that he doesn’t get away with abusing the Catholic Faith. A true spiritual father! One who really cares!

Maybe we should write some letters of support and thanks to this great bishop!

God bless.

Serious and Urgent

—Posted by Christina (August 5, 2008 at 9:45 am)

I’m seriously concerned about this year’s presidential elections.

I guess I’m realizing more and more how much we simply cannot afford to have the new President be pro-abortion.

Besides all the evil that a pro-abortion President could do here in America, there is a ton of evil that he could do in other countries too, America being such a powerful and influential country on the world scale. He could also influence the United Nations’ views and actions concerning abortion.

Fr. Frank Pavone has put together an overview of all the powers and influences that a President has concerning abortion and related issues. I found it to be very eye-opening, and it reinforced how important it is to have a pro-life President. To read this overview, go to www.politicalresponsibility.com and scroll down to find the article titled, “Elections Have Consequences”. (more…)
